The Best Finish Line is One Led by Faith

Every time I have a call with Kristi, our conversation naturally turns to the Lord, and I always leave feeling refreshed and encouraged. While the main purpose of our calls is to discuss her running, Kristi has a beautiful way of sharing how God is working in her life, the ways she has seen Him move, or offering to pray over me.

Fixed Eyes on Jesus:

It didn’t surprise me when she ran the Cowtown Half Marathon at the end of February, that she prayed out loud for someone on the course.

Kristi’s Bible verse for this was Hebrews 12:1-2.

She was ready to run into this race releasing all the stress of life and focusing on the plans God had for her for that race.

Last Mile, Best Mile:

The last mile she ran was by far my favorite mile as her Faith-Based Christian Run Coach. Here it is in her own words.

“There was a younger girl I saw during mile 13, and she had a shirt that said she was running for her dad who has colon cancer. I asked what her dad’s name was and she told me Eddie. I told her I would pray for him. Then I just prayed out loud for him and for his healing. She looked me right in the eyes and said “I really needed that”. That was probably the best part of my day.”

Her New PR wasn’t the best part!

Kristi crossed the finish line with over a 2-minute PR, but she didn’t say that was the best part of her day, she focused on what the Lord had placed along the course for her as the best part of her day. THIS is the best takeaway from any race!

Kristi also shared this with me:

“The girl I prayed with while we were running said her dad’s name is Eddie, and he has two more treatments left for his colon cancer. And then, in her words, he will be in remission. I am agreeing with her and seeing these words as prophetic over her dad.”

Prayer:

Please anyone reading this, say a prayer for Eddie! Let’s pray for him together right now.

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for always being with us and placing us where we need to be at the right time. Thank you for the gift of Eddie’s life and his daughter running in honor of him. Thank you for the gift of prayer. Thank you for Kristi’s boldness to pray out loud over Eddie and share with others. Prayers are so powerful and prayer warriors are such a gift!

Right now, we bring Eddie to you. May you heal Him and after his last two treatments may he go into remission. May Eddie see you in ways like never before and feel Your Holy Spirit heal him. May Eddie be fully healed and his cancer story be a testimony of YOU.

May all those reading this right now have that same boldness that Kristi exemplified and be able to pray out loud whenever You prompt them to do so.

Thank you so much, Lord. In Your name, we pray, Amen

What it’s like to work with Coach Elizabeth in Kristi’s Words:

Working with Elizabeth has brought fresh life into my running. Each run has a focus and it helps me to pause and engage with God.

Any hobby can become an idol if we let it, but incorporating faith in my running has helped to keep things in perspective.

She challenges me in my runs and I appreciate that. I trust her training and am happy I have her as my coach!
